A day in the life of an athlete and sufferer of depression

I feel like this poster conveys how I feel when I open my eyes in the morning and contemplate getting out of bed. For me, starting each day is like beginning to climb a mountain.-It isn't just another day, it's another day full of pain. Whenever I go jogging I can feel the pain in my quads and calves. Every second I breathe awake I feel some sort of level of pain. Sometimes I think about that phrase that so many people throw around all the time; "It'll get better" and I just wonder what kind of beautiful life they must lead where that is true. Better is oh so relative in my experience. My better is being able to get out of bed without having to talk myself into it. For some people I suppose getting up is something to look forward to. I dare not go to sleep at all because the moment I wake up I have to face another day. It isn't in my power to end the day forever, but if I can but delay the process, I do. Simple tasks such as appointments just feel overwhelming and the anxiety I feel has driven me to uncontrollable grinding and clenching my jaw. I know that people don't care to hear these things and so I do not utter them, but deep down I wish there was someone who knew all of me and still accepted and listened to me.

Cannon Beach, Oregon Coast

I went to Hug Point along the Oregon coast a couple weeks ago and it was in the sixties and gorgeous as the sun shone off the waves and shadows popped on the sand! It was so beautiful it almost made me wish I had my wetsuit to go surfin'!
